Jay Wright Flash Mob Video

As part of the “welcome back” festivities for students returning to campus this week, Villanova threw a barbecue on the quad. At some point during the festivities a “flash mob” broke out. If you didn’t know, a flash mob is “a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and pointless act for a brief time, then disperse.“

Notably, this flash mob had both university president Father Donohue and head men’s basketball coach, Jay Wright involved – they become visible in the video closer to the end. You’ll also notice JayVaughn Pinkston in the lower right of the video, he looks somewhat confused by what is going on until Baker Dunleavy appears to explain it to him.

Marty Liquori on TV

…in the 1980s. Marty Liquori was a world-class runner from Villanova, and back in the 1980s, he was invited to do a five-minute spot on Good Morning America to talk about home gym equipment. In the video he explains home treadmills, stationary bikes and rowing machines to the GMA host, David Hartman. There is even what appears to be a Chuck-Norris-like Total Gym machine.

The people over at iBasketball.nl, are doing great work covering the EuroJam 2011 tournament. The outcome of the Netherlands game today wasn’t pretty, but the video highlights will shed some light on why it wasn’t pretty and what Villanova will have to change to succeed in the college game this season.

We thought there wouldn’t be ANY video from the EuroJam 2011 event, but thanks to iBasketball.nl, we can now provide you with a decent amount of the Israel game on tape. We know you already know the outcome, but the following clips should give you a relatively fair idea of what the competition looked like for the ‘Cats.

Another Nardi Triple-Double

The Jersey Shore Basketball league is now in playoff-mode and Italian LegaDue guard, Mike Nardi, is leading the Investors Savings squad in their quest for the title. Though he missed a string of games at the end of the regular season, the former Villanova star returned to the St. Rose gym in Belmar, New Jersey on Monday night to help his team get past Seaview Jeep 124 to 117. The winner takes on either Sterns Trailer or Asbury Park Recreation on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.

Seaview Jeep was lead by former Notre Dame standout, Kyle McAlarney, who finished just two points shy of Nardi’s game-high 36 points. Seton Hall’s Fuquan Edwin also notched 35 points for Seaview.

Along with his points — 16 of which came in the third quarter — Nardi also had 13 assists and 10 rebounds to round out his triple-double.

Justus Galac’s Summer Recap

According to Andy Talley, Villanova football’s strength and conditioning coach Justus Galac is perhaps the most-vital member of the football staff. Galac spends more time with the players than any other coach because, in addition to his in-season duties, he oversees the offseason program. Galac is working with players throughout the calendar year.

His PowerhouseVU channel on YouTube is a wealth of insight into the sort of work Villanova football players put in every summer to get ready for preseason practices and the fall season. With the offseason program ending this week, Galac released a “Summer Recap” highlight reel, to give you an idea how hard the team has worked.

This summer, Galac also worked with the team’s NFL hopefuls who were left hanging by the lockout, including Angelo Babbaro, Brant Clouser (whose Giants workout is today), John Dempsey (Rams) and Terrence Thomas.

Savon Goodman Windmill

In the following clip, Villanova commit Savon Goodman celebrates the heritage of the Netherlands with a thundering windmill dunk. He follows it up with an alley-oop as well.

The video was originally posted by Ballislife.com, who were at the Las Vegas Fab 48 tournament. Goodman was playing there with the NJ Playaz AAU team.
