Texas 67: :58 Villanova
Villanova lost for the first time this season as the #6 Longhorns took the Wildcats down 67-58 at Madison Square Garden in the Jimmy V. Classic.
The Wildcats held Texas star AJ Abrams to 8 points in the first half, but he exploded for 18 in the second.
Villanova was led by Dante Cunnigham who registered his fourth Double-Double of the season with 23 points and 12 boards. Corey Stokes added 11 and Scottie Reynolds who seemed frustrated all night, fouled out with 10.

“We’ve got a lot of work to do. We need to play in these games and we will now. We need to play against this type of physical defense and be able to take care of the basketball and still make plays. I think that’s what we learned. I also think we have to rebound better as a team. But we can be a good team.”

Game 9 vs. #6 Texas
Villanova (8-0) travels outside of Philadelphia on Tuesday for the first time this season as they head to Madison Square Garden to face #6 ranked Texas (6-1) in the second game of the Jimmy V Classic. The 15th ranked (AP) Wildcats are led by Senior Dante Cunningham who is averaging 17.2 points and 8.0 rebounds a game this season. Scottie Reynolds, Corey Stokes, and Corey Fisher are all avergaing double-digits in scoring.
The Longhorns have been picked to win the Big 12 and are led by senior sharp-shooter AJ Abrams, who is the all-time UT 3-Point shooter. He is averaging 18 points a game this year. 6′7″ Damion James is averaging 14.3 points a game and nearly 9 rebounds. James was injured in Texas’s game with UCLA but is expected to play.
Texas’s lone loss on the season comes at the hands of Notre Dame by one point. Read more

Tickets for the Jimmy V Classic on December 9th will go on sale tomorrow. Villanova will take on Texas in the second game of the doubleheader from Madison Square Garden. West Virginia plays Davidson in the first game.

Villanova vs. Texas in Jimmy V. Confirmed
The University of Texas released their schedule today and a December 9th Matchup against Villanova in the Jimmy V Classic is confirmed.
The game will be at Madison Square Garden and will be part of a doubleheader broadcast on ESPN.
