Taylor King withdraws from Program
It started this morning as a messageboard rumor, but this evening ESPN’s Dana O’Neil reported, and the Villanova athletics department confirmed, that Taylor King has voluntarily withdrawn from the men’s basketball program.
According to Villanova.com, Taylor plans to remain at Villanova as a student. He will complete his degree requirements, but will not remain a part of the intercollegiate basketball program. He had two years of eligibility left after transferring from Duke, he would be going into his fourth years of college, and should be relatively close to completing his degree. Read more

We all all have our opinions about Taylor King’s season. He came to Villanova amid high-expectations for his ability to shoot the ball, but may have made more of an impact on the boards this year. King was the ‘Cats’ second-leading rebounder, but scored just 0.1 more points per game more than Reggie Redding — good for 5th place on the team. Read more
Taylor King to Play in BE Tourny
Villanova head coach Jay Wright mentioned today on ESPN radio that sophomore Taylor King will be available and able to play in the Big East Tournament.
This is following up on the heel’s of the AP Story that King is out indefinitely.
Taylor King Indefinitely Out
We have heard all of the rumors, but the only thing we can confirm is that Taylor King is out indefinitely. The AP Released this story on Villanova Sophmore, Taylor King:
VILLANOVA, Pa. — The 10th-ranked Villanova Wildcats could play the Big East tournament without forward Taylor King because of an undisclosed personal issue.
King was benched by coach Jay Wright for Saturday’s loss against West Virginia. Wright said at Monday’s practice there’s a “teaching point” he’s trying to make with King.
King is Villanova’s second-leading rebounder. Wright said he’ll decide in the next day or two what to do with King, who will travel to the tournament.
Wright said King is not in any trouble and did not break a team rule.
King said he’s going through “personal stuff right now.” He declined to reveal what is wrong, but said he will not be a distraction for the Wildcats.

Meet the New Wildcats: Taylor King
For the first time in recent memory, a new Wildcat will be joining the squad as a transfer into the program.
Rising sophomore Taylor King, transferred after his freshman year at Duke following the NCAA Tournament in March 2008. The transfer became official a few weeks later.
King comes to the Main Line from California powerhouse Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana.
He burst onto the scene in the Summer of 2003 when he verbally committed to UCLA before playing a single minute of high school basketball. He reopened his recruiting in the spring of 2005 and signed with Duke in January 2006 after considering Villanova and Gonzaga. Read more

The official Villanova.com site has updated the roster for this upcoming season.
In new news… it notes that Taylor King will wear #31 (he wore #20 at Duke, but Shane Clark sports that number for the Wildcats). This is also the first opportunity Villanova fans can see King and freshman Maurice Sutton in a ‘Nova uniform.
