St. Joseph’s 56: :59 Villanova
Villanova (8-1) got gutsy performances from Scottie Reynolds, Dante Cunningham, and Reggie Redding to come from a 10 point deficit in the second half to beat St. Joseph’s (PA) Â (4-5) by 3 at the Pavilion.
Reynolds scored 18, including the go ahead free-throws with 4.8 seconds to go. Dante added 18 and Dwayne Anderson dropped in 10.
‘Nova shot 5-14 from 3, and made 14 of 16 free throws- all in the second half.
The #15 Wildcats move to 2-0 in the Big 5 and will face LaSalle this weekend.

Game 10: vs. St. Joseph’s (PA)
The Wildcats (8-1) return back to campus on Thursday night after losing to Texas at Madison Square Garden to play St. Joesph’s (4-4) at the Pavilion.
This is the 68th meeting between the two schools with ‘Nova holding a 41-24 historical edge. Last year, the Hawks beat VU to end Villanova’s 14-Game Big 5 Winning Streak. Jay Wright is 4-3 against St. Joe’s as the head coach of the Wildcats.
St. Joe’s is led by forward Ahmad Nivens who is averaging 19.1 points and 11.4 rebounds a game so far this year. Guards Darrin Govens and Tasheed Carr are averaging in double digits as well.
Tipoff is set for 8p. If you are going to the game, please consider donating an unwrapped toy. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN or ESPN2.
- Villanova currently has a 20-Game Home Winning Streak at the Pavilion. It is currently the 8th longest Winning Streak in the country.
The Hess Corporation will be sponsoring the game as the University’s first “Green Game”. They will provide ‘Nova with Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) to support the generation of enough renewable energy to power the game.

Toy Drive at the St. Joe’s Game
From Campus…
The Villanova Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams will be hosting their annual Holiday Toy Drive during the St. Joe’s game on December 11th. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the game and help Villanova Basketball spread holiday cheer to children in our community. We ask all fans to consider donating new toys for children ages 2 through 17. All donations will benefit the North Light Community Center in Philadelphia. Please look for the toy collection tables.
Fans who bring a toy to the men’s game on Thursday will receive a voucher for free admission to a future women’s game.
Niagara, Fordham and St. Joe’s (PA) Dates Confirmed
Yesterday Fordham and St. Joseph’s (PA) released their 2008-09 schedules.
The Rams will travel to the Pavillion for a game against Villanova on November 17th (this game was speculated on August 8th).
The Hawks will make the long drvie from City Line to the Main Line on December 11th.

The Main Line team was on a 4 game skid and had a Big 5 Record Streak going. The City Line team with seniors who have never beaten Villanova were hungry. The Philly press coverage was large.

Oh wow. ‘Nova ends their Big 5 winning streak of 14 games and adds to their 4 game losing streak. The Wildcats found themselves down 31 at one point. Dante Cunningham and Scottie Reynolds both had 12 points for Villanova (13-8, 3-6).
