Scottie Leads ‘Nova in Win over St. John’s
Scottie Reynolds led the way with 19 points on 6 of 12 shooting as Villanova defeated St. John’s 81-71 en route to the school’s best start since 1950-51.
The 18-1 start includes a 7-0 start in Big East Conference play which has never been accomplished before by the Wildcats.
‘Nova overcame an 11 point deficit late in the first half to be down only 1 point at the intermission. Whatever Jay said to the squad at the half, the team took it to heart. A combination of increased defensive pressure and cold shooting saw St. John’s only shoot 11-38 (29%) from the field in the second 20 minutes.
Corey Fisher added 18 points for ‘Nova and freshman Maalik Wayns contributed 16 with both shooting 5-8 from the floor. Read more

Villanova – St. Johns Preview
#4 ranked Villanova heads to New York City to take on St. John’s at Madison Square Garden.
At 17-1 (6-0 in the Big East), ‘Nova is off to their best start since the 1963-64 season. If the Wildcats improve their conference record to 7-0, that would match their best Big East start since 1983.

St. John’s 57: :76 Villanova
Villanova used a balanced scoring attack featuring 4 players scoring in double digits to beat St. Johns’ 76-57 today at The Pavilion. Senior Dante Cunningham led the way for the Wildcats (14-3, 2-2) with 17 points. Dwayne Anderson added 14 and Corey Fisher had 12. Anotnion Pena scored 13 and added 10 rebounds for his first career Double-Double game.
#23 Villanova had nearly a double point lead throughout the whole game, but the Red Storm clawed back to within 8 early in the second. The cats then went on an 11-2 run to walk away.
‘Nova shot 58.8% from the field (30-51) including 41.7% from behind the arc and outrebounded the Red Storm 27-22.
The win extends Villanova’s Winning Streak at The Pavilion to 24 games.
Game 17: vs. St. John’s
#23 Villanova hits the hardwood on Sunday afternoon after an 8-day layoff as the Red Storm from St. John’s head to the Pavilion. The Wildcats (13-3, 1-2) are looking to get to .500 in Big East Play.
St. John’s is led by DJ Kennedy & Paris Horne who are each scoring a bit over 13 points a game. DJ Kennedy is their leading rebounder as he’s pulling down 7 boards. The Red Storm’s lone conference win was against #7 Notre Dame. However, the New York City squad has been very competitive in the first half in their losses against Pitt and UConn. Read more
