VUhoops.com is back and physically from the Sweet 16 loss to Kansas. The Jayhawks made their open shots, put on an “alley-oop” clinic, and harassed the Villanova guards’ shots.

Down 18 at one point the Wildcats turned things around as they beat the 5th Seeded Tigers from Clemson.
Lady Wildcats Win in 1st Round of WNIT
Villanova beat American 53-52 in the opening round of the Women’s NIT tournament. Laura Kurz, followed up a missed shot w/ 1 second to win the game.
The Lady Wildcats are off to Wisconsin for the next round.

Villanova 63: :82 Georgetown (9)
Villanova couldn’t overcome Georgetown’s 17 for 27 3-Point shooting (63%) and lost to the 9th ranked and #1 seeded Hoyas.
Scottie Reynolds had 13 for the Wildcats. Dwayne, Dante, and Antonio Peña each had 12.
‘Nova now waits for the NCAA Selection Committee’s decision on Sunday at 6p ET (CBS).

Villanova 82 :: 63 Syracuse
Keeping NCAA Tourny hopes alive, five Wildcats scored in double figures to beat Syracuse in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament.
Scottie Reynolds led the way with 22 (4-7 3FG). Corey Stokes added 18 (4-8 3FG). Dwayne, Dante and Shane popped in 14, 13, & 11.
‘Nova outrebounded the Orange 39-27.
#1 Seed Georgetown is next tomorrow at 12p ET. The game will be on ESPN.

Villanova 73: 63 Providence
Villanova brought Providence back down to reality with a 73-63 victory on Saturday night at the Dunkin Donuts center in Providence.
Dwayne Anderson scored 17 and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Cats in scoring.
The Cats now are still on the NCAA bubble and need to win the 8 vs. 9 game on Wednesday at Noon in the Big East Tourney in NYC this week.
Villanova 72: 59 South Florida
Villanova never trailed as they beat South Florida 72-59 Wednesday night at the Pavilion.
Shane Clark scored 15 and grabbed 7 rebounds to lead the Cats in scoring. It was the first double digit game for Clark since he scored 15 in December against Columbia.
USF Freshman guard Dominique Jones was impressive with 29 points but he was the only Bull to overcome Nova’s defense. The Bulls shot 31% for the night from the field.
The Cats now are still on the NCAA bubble and need to win at Providence and have a good showing at the Big East Tourney in NYC next week.
#13 Louisville 68 : 54 Villanova
Louisville too much for the Cats. Nova held a 15-11 lead at the 12:30 mark of the 1st half but once Louisville took the lead midway through the 1st the Cats couldn’t claw their way back into the game. Louisville lead by 11 at the break.
Nova never came closer then 9 after scoring the first basket in the 2nd half.
Malcolm Grant scored a team high 11 and got the start because Scottie Reynolds and Corey Fisher were late to the morning shoot around.
#21 Marquette 85: :75 Villanova
Scottie Reynolds led the Wildcats with 14 and Dante Cunningham & Corey Stokes added 13 but ‘Nova couldn’t overtake Marquette in the second half. Villanova drops to 17-10 (7-8).
The Wildcats wore their vintage unis for the third consecutive game.
