Recruiting Update
A new name that has recently come on the recruiting circuit with ties to Villanova is Nick Faust.
The 6-6 Class of 2011 shooting guard has burst on the scene entering the spring of his junior year and the summer leading into his senior campaign.
In April, he turned lots of eyes in Virginia with his deep 3 point shooting (with unique release) and his athletic finishes at the rim. Scout described him as “a guy who can score and loves to slash.” Read more

Will Tony Wroten Jr. from Seattle head to the Main Line?
It’s the off-season so topics are slow around VUhoops.
With the 2010 Recruiting Class coming to a close, it’s time to shift focus to 2011.
With Cory Joseph heading to school in Austin, most Villanova fans realize that the primary focus for Coach Jay Wright will be on the point guard position. Read more
Cory Joseph picks Texas
SNY’s Adam Zagoria reports that Cory Joseph will go to the University of Texas to play basketball this fall. On his decision, Joseph said, “There’s no 2nds, 3rds, 4ths or 5ths, it was a very hard decision. They all had great coaches.”
Joseph claimed that having two of his fellow Canadian AAU teammates on the Texas roster was not a factor in his decision. Read more
Harcum Junior College
It has come to my attention recently that the men’s basketball program at Villanova’s Main Line neighbor, Harcum College, has quietly turned into one of the better junior college teams in the country since the school went co-ed in the early 2000’s.
The Harcum Bears are coached by a 1997 alumnus of Villanova, Drew Kelly, and during the past three years, eight of his players have signed Division I letters of intent. Two of them have signed with Big East schools; Charles Okwandu is a junior center at Connecticut and Augustine Okosun who played at Seton Hall (Okosun has since transferred to Northwood). Other notables include JC All-American Antonio Bumpus, who recently signed a letter of intent to play at Utah State next year.
Should the Wildcats be paying more attention to players from that junior college just 4 minutes southeast of campus?
Pinkston Makes it Official
With the late signing period under way (or is it the regular signing-period?), Villanova recruit JayVaughn Pinkston has signed his national letter of intent.
Pinkston is a McDonalds All-American who was considered to be the best big man in New York City this past year. He is short for a power forward at 6′6″, but at 235lbs, he has plenty of bulk and athleticism to succeed in the college game. Read more
Michael Gilchrist Selects Kentucky
The Nation’s top junior, Michael Gilchrist, announced today that he will be attending the University of Kentucky.
Broadcast live on ESPNU, the 6′6″ forward said, “I’ll be going to the University of Kentucky. I like coach Cal a lot and his staff. I like the fans there a lot and it’s a blessing. That’s the main reason.”
Michael Gilchrist to Announce on Wednesday
As we noted on the VUhoops Twitter page earlier, Villanova Recruiting Target, Michael Gilchrist, will be making his college decision tomorrow.
The decision will be broadcast on ESPNU at 550p ET.
Gilchrist is the consensus #1 player in the class of 2011, and arguably all of high school basketball.
The 6′6″ Forward from St. Patrick’s in Elizabeth, NJ is speculated to have his college decision narrowed down between Villanova and Kentucky.
In recent history, St. Pat’s has sent Mike Nardi and Corey Fisher to Villanova. Read more

Two Villanova 2010 commits made the list as well. JayVaughn Pinkston joined Gilchrist on the second team, while James Bell was named to the 4th team.
