James Bell Heads to U18 National Team Camp
Incoming Villanova freshman, James Bell, will be heading to San Antonio to join the USA Basketball U18 Training Camp.
He will be competing for one of 12 spots on the U18 squad that will be competing at the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship which will be held in San Antonio from June 26-30. Read more
Parade All-America Teams Announced
Parade Magazine released their annual list of High School basketball All Americans today. Their first team features some of the top players in the country, Kyrie Irving, Tobias Harris, Brandon Knight and Villanova target, Cory Joseph.
Superstar and 2011 target Michael Gilchrist, was named to the Parade second team.
Two Villanova 2010 commits made the list as well. JayVaughn Pinkston joined Gilchrist on the second team, while James Bell was named to the 4th team.
James Bell & Cory Joseph Face Off On ESPN Today
Cory Joseph’s No.2 Findlay Prep. defeated Mountain State Academy 68-53 on Friday to advance to the finals of the ESPN/Rise National High School Invitational. Findlay will face Villanova-bound James Bell’s No. 8 Montverde Academy, which defeated No. 11 Winter Park, Fla., 62-56 in overtime. Montverde defeated Findlay Prep 54-51 earlier this season. They play at 130p (ET) on ESPN. Read more

The Martin Luther King Holiday Weekend is usually a big time for High School Basketball games and this past weekend was no exception.
James Bell and his Montverde Academy team went to Dayton, OH’s Flyin to the Hoop. He had 14 points against a local Trotwood team. He also added 22 points on 7-14 shooting against Wayne
The Big Apple Classic was the host of Villanova’s three other commitments.
Checking In On Our 2010 Recruits
Rivals reports that Villanova’s 2010 commits, made up of four-star prospects Jayvaughn Pinkston and James Bell and three-star prospect Markus Kennedy, ranks 26 in the country. “Add Cory Joseph, the No. 7 ranked prospect in the Rivals 150, and Villanova would move up to at least No. 7, ahead of Duke in the rankings.”
MaxPrep reports that “Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) has a duo to be reckoned with in James Bell and Jamail Jones. Bell busted out for a game-high 23 points and Jones had 12 points and 10 rebounds in a 62-47 win over Westchester (Los Angeles, Calif.). In the pair of big wings’ opening-game win Saturday, it was Jones with a large 32 points while Bell had 13.”

James Bell Signs for 'Nova
Earlier this week James Bell a 6′5″ wing from Montverde Academy in Florida signed his National Letter of Intent to play college basketball at Villanova. We were able to catch up with James as he told us about his recruitment and shared his excitement about joining the Villanova Basketball Family.
Now that he’s signed, he feels “that a lot of pressure has been lifted off of his shoulders” and he knows that he has something amazing to look forward to when he graduates. Playing college basketball has always been a dream for him and his parents.
Why did he pick ‘Nova? James says, “It’s a place were I can challenge myself on the court. And academically it’s a great school. Plus, I have the chance to play for one of the best coaches in the country.” Read more
James Bell Signs Letter of Intent
James Bell the 6′5″ wing from Montverde Academy in Orlando has signed his National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Villanova.
The very versatile and extremely athletic Bell is ranked #73 by Scout, #76 by Rivals, and #43 by ESPN in the Class of 2010.
Bell is “an explosive athlete who attacks the rim with power” who should fit into Jay Wright’s offensive schemes, especially if he develops a mid-range jumper.
He committed to Jay Wright on July 31, 2008.
