Today ends the Early Signing Period.

Yesterday’s announcement of Xavier Henry to head to Memphis has caused Villanova recruiting target Dominic Cheek to cross Memphis off of his list according to Adam Zagoria. He will visit Rutgers this weekend and Pitt the week of Thanksgiving. Cheek will be signing during the Spring Period (April 15 - May 20)… but that does not mean he will wait until then to Commit.

Isaiah Armwood Inks Letter of Intent

November 14, 2008 · Filed Under Isaiah Armwood · 1 Comment

Isaiah Armwood has joined Maalik Wayns in signing a National Letter of Intent to play at Villanova. Earlier in the week a tipster on VUsports noted that Armwood’s Facebook status read: “Signed today: Im officially a wildcat”.

Confirming that, give a read to Big East Report’s Armwood Primed for Montrose & Villanova.

“I think he’s going to have an excellent season this year,” said Montrose’s coach, Stu Vetter, of his expectation for Armwood’s final campaign. “We’re going to play him inside and outside”: This includes having Isaiah face up from three point land and at times giving several dribbles before pulling up, as well as operating on his beloved baseline. Expect Armwood, who has recovered from a springtime knee injury to continue rebounding and blocking shots. Of course running the floor is a foundation of his game.

Going forward playing inside and out will be good for Isaiah and Villanova, a place he deemed “a great fit for me”, one allowing him to “play both forward positions.” Based upon his continued work, Armwood also believes “I have a good chance at starting my freshman year.”

There have been no confirmations of the other verbal recruit, Mouphtaou Yarou, signing yet.

Maalik Wayns Signs Letter of Intent

The first of Jay Wright’s prized recruits, Maalik Wayns has signed a national letter of intent to play at Villanova.

“It’s been a long wait,” Wayns said. “I’m really excited. I just can’t wait to get it out the way so people can stop speculating about me going to other places.”

Isaiah Armwood and Mouphtaou Yarou are expected to sign soon.

For Dominic Cheek, all signs, quotes, and hints point to him announcing his decision and signing in the spring.

Isaiah Armwood Commits to Villanova

July 1, 2008 · Filed Under Isaiah Armwood, Recruiting · 4 Comments

It’s Official!

Isaiah Armwood, the 6-7 Power Forward from Montrose Christian in Rockville, MD, has committed to Villanova.

Jay Wright and staff beat out Syracuse and Texas for Scout’s #20 (#43 on Rivals) ranked player from the Class of 2009.

You might not like it (what Coach Wright says) but he’ll be totally honest with you and you can ask him almost anything. He’ll tell you the truth. I asked him about me coming in and playing right away and basically he told me there’s nothing I can’t do and he looks forward to developing me in all areas of the floor.
