Hard Work Paying-Off for Dante
The Portland Trail Blazers selected Dante Cunningham with the 33rd overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, saying they liked his versatility, grit and potential. After leading Portland’s 2009 NBA Summer League entry with 18.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.50 steals in four games (all starts), Dante signed a two year guaranteed contract with the Blazers. Although the terms were not disclosed, Sham Sports reports that he will earn $457,600 this season and $762,200 next season. It’s a good bet that he’s earning a bit more than than his fellow Nova Class of 2009 grads (hell, most Nova grads). Read more

Mouph’s Impact
There is a lot of talk going around about people’s expectations for Villanova basketball this year. Most of them simultaneously praise the depth of our backcourt, and exercise cautious optimism regarding our (mostly new) frontcourt rotation.
The pundits unanimously have proclaimed that the sky is the limit for this year’s version of the Wildcats, IF Mouphtaou Yarou is as good as we all hope. The theory is that Villanova will succeed only if a suitable replacement for Dante Cunningham is found. Blazers GM: Dante Will Get Contract
Second Round draft picks in the NBA aren’t guaranteed contracts; but it looks like Dante Cunningham’s performance in the NBA Summer League has impressed Portland’s top brass.
Blazers’ GM, Kevin Pritchard noted that Cunningham and fellow 2nd round pick Jeff Pendergraph will “ sign contracts before the season starts and give them roster spots.”
Cunningham finished 6th in rookie scoring during the Summer League. He finished 4 games averaging 18.25 points and 5.75 rebounds.

Dante and Dwayne in the NBA Summer League
In case you have missed it, both Dante Cunningham and Dwayne Anderson are participating in the NBA’s Summer League in Las Vegas.
Cunningham, the 33rd pick by the Portland Trailblazers scored 21 points and had 9 rebounds in 31 minutes in an 87-92 loss to the Toronto Raptors.
Anderson was undrafted but is currently on the Washington Wizards’ Summer Squad, they will have their first game today against Cleveland.

Dante Cunningham was selected by the Portland Trailblazers with the 3rd pick in the 2nd Round (33rd overall).
As a random point, he was the 5th Big East Player selected being selected before DeJuan Blair, DuJuan Summers, and Sam Young.

Dante to Work out for the Blazers
The Trailblazers are bringing in 6 players in a pre-draft workout on Wednesday and Dante Cunningham will be there.
Portland has the 24th, 33rd, 38th, 55th, and 56th picks in the June 25th Draft.
The others working out are Darren Collison, (UCLA); Justin Dentmon, (Washington); Derrick Brown, (Xavier); Tyler Hansbrough, (North Carolina); Jeff Pendergraph, (Arizona State).
Dante Working out in Salt lake
The Jazz are bringing in 12 players in a pre-draft workout on Monday and Dante Cunningham will be there.
Utah holds the 20th and 50th picks in the June 25th Draft.
Dante’s group will include Taj Gibson (USC), Tyler Hansbrough (North Carolina), Jeff Pendergraph (Arizona State), LeVance Fields (Pittsburgh) and Tyrese Rice (Boston College).
