Entire Release

Freshman guard James Bell (Orlando, Fla./Montverde Academy) will be sidelined from basketball activities for an undetermined period of time with stress fractures in the tibia of both legs, it was announced today. Bell, who is under the care of Villanova Team Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Rob Good, will be re-evaluated in October.

“We’re disappointed for James,” stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. “He has acclimated himself very well academically and socially at Villanova in his short time with us. I am sure he will take that same kind of mature approach with his rehab. We don’t know how long he will be out, but we will monitor his rehab closely.”

Bell, 6-5, was a third team All-American choice of USA Today and a fourth team selection by Parade Magazine. He averaged 18.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.3 steals per game during his senior season at Montverde Academy.
