See It In Your Mind’s Eye
I thought I would post two videos with the current Villanova students among our VUHoops readers in mind.
The first is a history lesson in the form of an ESPN documentary on one of the greatest upsets in the history of sports on this, the year of the 25th anniversary of Nova’s only NCAA Basketball Championship. What better way to celebrate than by bringing home another championship this year?
The second video shows how this year’s team is giving its best to get there. Imagine the possibilities!
Cory Joseph Update
Marcus Fuller of the Pioneer Press reports that Nova 2010 target, Cory Joseph, is visiting Minnesota this weekend. What should cause concern among VUHoops readers is that Cory’s brother, Devoe, is a sophomore guard at Minnesota. “They were teammates growing up, most recently on Canada’s top high school team two years ago. Cory said his mom would love to see her sons reunite in college. Devoe also wants his brother alongside him again.” Fuller says that “a lot works in favor of the possibility of Gophers coach Tubby Smith adding the five-star Findlay Prep (Nev.) point guard to highlight his 2010 recruiting class. But Cory Joseph apparently doesn’t feel pressured to decide this weekend while on his official trip to Minnesota’s campus” He reports that seven schools remain on his list: Minnesota, Connecticut, Villanova, Texas, Florida, Nevada-Las Vegas and Mississippi State. Stop by the Pavilion or take a peek at who has the prime seats for NCAA tournaments games, and it seems those Wildcats are still as much a part of the program as Reynolds and Wright. Success Both A Blessing & Curse for JW
David Jones, a writer for the The Harrisburg Patriot-News, wrote an excellent article yesterday entitled “Nova’s Success Blessing and Curse for Jay Wright”. He discusses how Nova’s success on the hardcourt has opened doors to elite recruits, but created other coaching challenges. Here are a few highlights:
“Wright is gaining access to players of major skill who can transform his program into one that doesn’t treat a visit to the Final Four as a stunning accomplishment, but a mere gratification.” Read more
