Georgetown 56: :54 Villanova
A desperate Georgetown team with the toughest schedule in the country came to the Wachovia Center this afternoon and held on to upset the #10 Wildcats.
The Hoyas had up to an 8 point lead in the second half, but Villanova was unable to take the lead. Corey Stokes hit a pair of free throws with 1:15 to go in the game to cut the lead to 1, but Villanova was unable to convert on the number of oportunities in the last minute to close the gap or take the lead in a game that saw 45 combined turnovers.
Dante Cunningham led ‘Nova with 13 points and Scottie Reynolds added 12. The Villanova loss moves the squad to 23-6 (11-5). Read more

“If we continue to keep getting better, by the end of the year we can be playing our best basketball,” Reynolds said.
Somehow, the last five years under Wright, the Wildcats always seem to be at their best in March.

Game 29: vs. Georgetown
Villanova is entering the final swing of the regular season with 3 games in the final week. The #10 Wildcats host Georgetown for a 12 Noon game at the Wachovia Center on Saturday.
‘Nova (23-5, 11-4) looks to end February by adding another win to their 7-1 record for the month. While Villanova has won 9 of their last 10 games, Georgetown has lost 9 of their last 11 games. Read more

With this week’s win over DePaul, the Villanova Class of 2009 of Dante Cunnigham, Dwayne Anderson, Shane Clark, and Frank Tchuisi have a record of 95-34 at ‘Nova.

They are now tied with the class of 1997 for most victories by any class in Villanova history. That class included Alvin Williams, Jason Lawson, and Chuck Kornegay.
Dante Named Finalist for Oscar Robertson Trophy
Villanova Senior Dante Cunningham has been named one of the 15 Finalists for the Oscar Robertson Trophy awarded by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association and given to the association’s national player of the year.
The Oscar Robertson Trophy is awarded to the USBWA’s Player of the Year. It is the nation’s oldest award and the only one named after a former player. The legendary Oscar Robertson was the USBWA’s first player of the year in 1959. The USBWA renamed its player of the year award the Oscar Robertson Trophy in 1998. Read more
