Rhode Island 65: :78 Villanova
#20 Villanova (6-0) got 19 points and 12 rebound from Dante Cunningham to beat Rhode Island (5-2) in the Championship game of the Philly Hoop Group Classic. The Wildcats had 5 players in double digit; Corey Fisher (14), Scottie Reynolds (13), Reggie Redding (11) and Antonio Pena (10).
The game turned out to be a very physical one getting ‘Nova ready for Big East Conference play. Redding, assigned the duty of guarding URI star Jimmy Baron, required 4 stitches and enough blood was drawn to require jersey changes.
Dante Cunningham was named MVP of the Tournament. Corey Fisher was named to the All-Tournament team.
Casiem Drummond did not play again. Reason; Injury? Discipline? Unkown. But rumors abound.

Game 6: vs. Rhode Island
#20 Villanova (5-0) will take on Rhode Island (5-1) tonight in the Championship of the Philly Hoop Group Classic. The Rams’ lone lost on the season is at the hands of Duke in a game that saw URI lead most of the way.
The Rams have 4 players averaging double-digits in scoring led by guards Jimmy Baron (18.5) who is a terrific shooter and Keith Cothran (17.8).
Villanova holds a 4-2 edge over Rhode Island through history, but interestingly enough, the last game was in 1950.
Locally in the Metro Philly area, the TV will be broadcast on CN8. Audio can be heard on 950 ESPN. Tipoff is at 8:45. If you’re not in the Philly area, the game should be available via channelsurfing.net.
