Secret Scrimmage against George Washington
Jay Wright and the Villanova squad will host George Washington tomorrow in a “secret scrimmage”. We’re sorry we don’t have any other details, but this has been tipped to us by 3 sources.
UPDATE: Jeff Goodman has confirmed the scrimmage and has included some Jay Wright quotes…
Wright wasn’t allowed about the specific scrimmage, but said that they certainly have their advantages.
“We can control the situation and we can get a very competitive workout that will simulate a Big East game.”

Additional Jay Wright Quotes from Media Day
We gave you a bunch of Jay Wright quotes from last Wednesday’s Big East Media Day. Adam Zagoria has added some new ones…
On Scottie Reynolds:
Scottie is healthy and I think it’s one of the responsiblities of our coaching staff to keep him fresh and healthy this year. He kills himself in practice and Dante Cunningham does the same thing. It’s my job to do the same thing.
On the Coreys:
We’ll always recruit New Jersey because that’s where the bulk of our alumni are from. The history of Villanova basketball, there’s so many great players from New York and New Jersey.
“Corey Stokes and Corey Fisher are the guys that really have a chance to make us a better team. They’re the guys that have made drastic improvements from last year and they’re both talented kids and very, very well coached coming from their high school programs. We’ve got experienced guys up front, those two could make the difference for us this year.

Jay Wright at Big East Media Day
Here is an 8m47s interview with Jay Wrigh from today’s Big East Media Day at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Usually a lot of teams who went to the Sweet 16 and returns all of its starters would expect to be in the top 2 or 3 of the conference…
Jay Wright:
“Exactly. There’s all this talent in this league. A lot of the top teams have everyone returning. I think this is unprecedented. Even in the 80s… to have this many teams have quality returning starters… is unheard of.
I think the kids are staying. We had a lot of young teams in the league last year.
How is Scottie [Reynolds] evolving and where he is now… Read more
