Recruiting: James Bell Update

July 29, 2008 · Filed Under James Bell, Recruiting · 3 Comments

We’ve mentioned that the Class of 2010, 6′4″ Shooting Guard from Florida, James Bell, was rating Villanova very high in late May.

This summer, Bell has been doing quite well on the AAU circuit with Team STAT and it seems he is keeping his options still open at the moment.

Kentucky is entering the fray for Bell along with Florida, Tennessee, WVU, Miami, Clemson, and Auburn. (Miami and Clemson, along with ‘Nova have offered)

When asked about his near commit to ‘Nova, replied:

[that] he isn’t committed to Villanova, despite constant chatter that he is or will be in the very short future. The Montverde (Fla.) Academy bound wing said the Wildcats are tops on his list though.

FB: Villanova to take on Big East Preseason #1 & POY

July 29, 2008 · Filed Under Football · Comment

VUhoops.com with the gratuitous Football post…

Media Day for Big East Football is being held today in Newport, RI. West Virginia, who Villanova will kick-off the season against on August 30th in Morgantown, was tabbed as the Conference’s Pre-Season #1.

Another Prestige Ranking puts ‘Nova at #30

July 28, 2008 · Filed Under Article · 1 Comment

Times are slow for college basketball fans in the middle of the summer…

Granted the author of this story at the Bleacher Report is only taking data from 2000, but he has Villanova @ #30.

Commentary…

Personally we don’t like his scoring schedule, which puts a greater differential in weight on winning one game in the NCAA Tourny than anything else. (eg- lose in 1st round- 2 points. lose in 2nd round- 34 points… Lose in Championship- 64pts. Win Championship-65 pts) Something is wrong there with a Championship being worth only 1 more point than making it to the Final.
